What’s Included in the Workshop:
- All painting supplies and materials, including paint, palettes, paper, reference photos, and drawing tools.
- A custom, handmade ceramic watercolor palette by Jake Pierce Ceramics filled with paint.
- One watercolor brush and four sheets of 100% cotton watercolor paper (various sizes).
- A watercolor dot card featuring paint samples.
- A catered charcuterie spread provided by Table 304.
What to Expect:
Brushwork and Techniques: I’ll share my favorite techniques and tricks for creating interesting washes, color mixes, and textures.
Warm-Up Exercises: We’ll begin with fun warm-up exercises helps to loosen up your hand and familiarize you with brush handling and watercolor control.
Observation Skills: I’ll share tips on observing your subject matter and painting the most important parts, leaving the rest to the viewer.
Painting Styles: This workshop encourages experimentation, which can help you develop your own unique artistic style.
Feedback and Support: I’ll be with you every brushstroke to help you learn how to improve your techniques effectively.
Demonstration: Throughout the workshop, I will paint different plants and animals while discussing techniques and my thought process as I paint. I will also bring paintings in various stages so you can see each wash as the subject comes to life.
Project Creation: You’ll work on one painting of your choice to apply what you learn in a practical context, resulting in a finished piece by the end of the session. We will also work on a painting together as a group.
Materials Knowledge: I’ll share my favorite materials to use, including paper, paints, and brushes.
